To all to whom these Presents shall come, or whom the same may in any way concern, We, Maximilian, King of Æfira and of Our other Realms and Territories, send Greeting!

Whereas We did by Our Letters Patent dated the seventh day of September in the year of Our Reign the second declare and proclaim a certain order to be observed with respect to the precedence of eminent persons, and whereas We deem it expedient now to alter and amend the said order:

Know ye that We do by these Presents declare and proclaim that the following order shall be observed with respect to the precedence of eminent persons:

  1. The Sovereign, followed immediately by his or her spouse, and then by the widows of his or her predecessors in reverse chronological order.
  2. The Prince Regent.
  3. Children of the Sovereign being Princes and Princesses, in the order of their birth, each followed immediately by his or her spouse.
  4. Children of children of the Sovereign being Princes and Princesses, in the order of their parents’ seniority and then of their birth, each followed immediately by his or her spouse.
  5. Children of former Sovereigns being Princes and Princesses, in the reverse order of their parents’ reigns and then in the order of their birth, each followed immediately by his or her spouse.
  6. Children of children of former Sovereigns being Princes and Princesses, in the order of their parents’ seniority and then of their birth, each followed immediately by his or her spouse.
  7. The Lord High Steward.
  8. The Lord High Chancellor.
  9. The Speaker of the House of Commons.
  10. The Lord Chief Justice.
  11. The Lord High Treasurer.
  12. The Lord Privy Seal.
  13. The Lord High Chamberlain.
  14. The Lord High Constable.
  15. The Lord High Admiral.
  16. Lord Mayors and Lord Lieutenants, within their Cities and Counties.
  17. Ambassadors of foreign nations, in the order of their accreditation.
  18. Dukes and Duchesses, in the order of the creation of their Peerages, each followed immediately by his or her spouse, and then by the widows of his or her predecessors in reverse chronological order.
  19. Marquesses and Marchionesses, in the order of the creation of their Peerages, each followed immediately by his or her spouse, and then by the widows of his or her predecessors in reverse chronological order.
  20. Ministers and Envoys of foreign nations, in the order of their accreditation.

  25. Barons and Baronesses, in the order of the creation of their Peerages, each followed immediately by his or her spouse, and then by the widows of his or her predecessors in reverse chronological order.
  26. Eldest children of eldest children of Princes and Princesses, in the order of their parents’ seniority, each followed immediately by his or her spouse.
  27. The Lord Advocate.
  28. Secretaries of State, in the order of their appointment.
  29. Knights and Ladies of the Phoenix, in the order of their investiture.
  30. Privy Counsellors, in the order of their appointment.
  31. The Chief Justices of the King’s Bench and the Common Pleas, in the order of their appointment.

  35. The Commissioner of the Crown Estate, the Comptroller of the Household, the Keeper of the Privy Purse and the Private Secretary to the Sovereign, in the order of their appointment.

  37. The Lord Mayor of Riverdale, outside that City.
  38. Knights Bachelor and Lady Knights, in the order of their investiture.

  49. Circuit Judges, in the order of their appointment.
  50. King’s Counsel, in the order of their appointment.
  51. Chairmen and Chairwomen of City and County Councils, within their Cities and Counties.
  52. Justices of the Peace, within their Cities and Counties, in the order of their appointment.
  53. Members of City and County Councils, within their Cities and Counties, in the order of their election.
  54. Esquires, in the order of their attainment of that title; including Barristers, eldest children of eldest children of Peers and Peeresses, holders of any office of trust under the Crown, holders of university degrees, and officers of the armed forces.

Provided always that the term “widow” shall include both the husbands and wives of deceased persons not having remarried, and that, except where special provision is made for their precedence, widows shall have the same precedence which they would if their spouses remained living.
