Letters Patent of 28 April 2008

To all to whom these Presents shall come, or whom the same may in any way concern, We, Max, King of Æfira and of Our other Realms and Territories, send Greeting!

Whereas We are desirous that there should be established in Our City of Riverdale a University for the promotion of arts, sciences, knowledge and learning:

Know ye that We of Our special grace do by these Presents grant, direct and ordain as follows:

There shall be a University in Our said City of Riverdale by the name and style of “The Royal University of Æfira”.

There shall be a Chancellor of the University, appointed by Letters Patent under Our Sign Manual, who shall be the head of the University with full power to direct its affairs and control its finances.

There shall be a Vice-Chancellor of the University, appointed by Letters Patent under Our Sign Manual, who shall act for the Chancellor during the vacancy of that office or the absence or incapacity of the Chancellor, and who shall perform such other functions and duties as the Chancellor shall direct.

There shall be such other officers of the University as the Chancellor shall appoint, who shall perform such functions and duties as the Chancellor shall direct.

The Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor and other officers of the University, and the professors and scholars for the time being of the University, shall form a body politic and corporate by the name and style of “The Royal University of Æfira”, with full power and capacity in such name to sue and be sued and to do all other acts which bodies politic and corporate may by law or custom do.

The University shall have power to appoint professors and other staff, to admit scholars, and to confer degrees, diplomas and other academic distinctions, in accordance with the directions of the Chancellor, provided that no discrimination on the grounds of age, race, gender, disability, ethnic or national origin, political or other opinion, marital status, religious or other belief, or sexual orientation shall be exercised by the University in any of these facilities.

The University shall, in all of its activities and functions, advance and promote knowledge and learning, and the welfare of the Kingdom of Æfira and the people of the same.
