An Act to Extend the Jurisdiction of the House of Lords with Respect to its Judicial Functions, and for Related Purposes.

Whereas the Peers of this most noble Realm do by custom enjoy the right to trial by their peers the Lords Temporal and Spiritual in Parliament assembled, and whereas there exists at present no other legally established Court of Law in this Realm, and whereas the common Law of this Realm dictates that the King’s most Excellent Majesty ought not to try any citizen of the same charged with the commission of a criminal act:
Be it therefore enacted by the King’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Temporal and Spiritual in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
