An Act to make provision with regard to the national flag and emblems of Æfira.

Be it enacted by the King’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords and Commons in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
1. The national arms of Æfira shall be argent a Fret azure. Every Æfiran citizen is entitled to use these arms to represent the nation or his or her nationality.
2. The national flag of Æfira shall be white, in the proportion of one to two, with a blue saltire along the diagonals of the flag, its width being three twentieths of the flag’s height, and a blue diamond along the edges of the flag, its sides having the same width, as is depicted in the Schedule to this Act. Every Æfiran citizen is entitled to fly the national flag on land, and every Æfiran ship is entitled to fly it as a jack.
3. The ensign of the Royal Navy shall be white, in the proportion of one to two, with a canton of the national flag, its height and width being one half of the ensign’s height and width, respectively, as is depicted in the Schedule to this Act. Every of His Majesty’s ships is entitled to fly the said ensign.
4. The ensign of His Majesty’s Government shall be blue, in the proportion of one to two, with a like canton, as is depicted in the Schedule to this Act. Every ship in the service of His Majesty’s Government or of any agency or department thereof is entitled to fly the said ensign.
5. The ensign of the merchant marine shall be red, in the proportion of one to two, with a like canton, as is depicted in the Schedule to this Act. Every Æfiran ship entitled to fly neither the ensign of the Royal Navy nor the ensign of His Majesty’s government is entitled to fly the said ensign.
6. His Majesty may by Order-in-Council, Letters Patent or other expression of his Royal will establish additional flags and regulate the use thereof.
7. His Majesty may by Order-in-Council further regulate the use of flags at sea.
8. The master of any vessel failing to comply with the regulations aforementioned shall be guilty of a misdemeanor.
9. This Act may be cited as the Flags Act 2009.
