Nationality and Citizenship Act 2008

An Act to make provision for Æfiran nationality and citizenship; and for related purposes.

Be it enacted by the King’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords and Commons in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:

1.  Every person born within the jurisdiction of the Kingdom of Æfira shall be a citizen of the Kingdom of Æfira.
2.  Every person shall be a citizen of the Kingdom of Æfira if at least one of his natural parents is a citizen of the Kingdom of Æfira at the time of his birth.
4.  Every person who is naturalized in the Kingdom of Æfira, whether by His Majesty’s prerogative or by Act of Parliament, shall be a citizen of the Kingdom of Æfira.
5.  The status of any person who was a citizen of the Kingdom of Æfira prior to the commencement of this Act shall not be affected by the commencement of this Act.
6.  Every citizen of the Kingdom of Æfira has the right to enter and reside in the Kingdom of Æfira, without restriction.
7.  Every citizen of the Kingdom of Æfira may, with His Majesty’s consent, renounce his citizenship.
8.  No citizen of the Kingdom of Æfira shall be deprived of his citizenship without his consent, except by Act of Parliament.
9.  Every person who is naturalized in the Kingdom of Æfira, whether by His Majesty’s prerogative or by Act of Parliament, shall take the following oath or affirmation:
I, N.N., do solemnly and sincerely swear [or affirm] that I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to His Majesty King Maximilian and his lawful successors, observe the laws of the Kingdom of Æfira and fulfill my duties as an Æfiran citizen.
10.  The Registrar General, or the person exercising the duties of that office during its vacancy, shall be informed of any change in the nationality or citizenship status of any person, and shall record the same in such manner as His Majesty may direct.
11.  The terms “Æfiran citizen” and “Æfiran national” shall refer for all purposes to any citizen of the Kingdom of Æfira.
12.  The terms “Æfiran subject”, “subject of His Majesty” and “subject of the Crown” shall refer for all purposes to any citizen of the Kingdom of Æfira who is not the Sovereign.
13.  The terms “foreign nation”, “foreign state” and “foreign power” shall refer for all purposes to any nation other than the Kingdom of Æfira.
14.  The terms “foreign national” and “foreigner” shall refer for all purposes to any person who is not a citizen of the Kingdom of Æfira.
15.  This Act may be cited as the Nationality and Citizenship Act 2008.
